HUGHES COUNTY, Okla. (KFOR) – A 42-year-old man, Richard Chambers, was arrested Wednesday morning in Hughes County, near Ada, following an alleged killing spree that left three people dead. The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) worked alongside local law enforcement agencies, including the Pontotoc County Sheriff’s Office, the Midwest City Police Department, and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, to identify Chambers as the primary suspect.
The series of events began when 62-year-old Annie Brown was found shot to death inside her home in Midwest City, with her car missing. The vehicle was discovered nearly 90 miles away in Allen, Oklahoma, where the police responded to a suspicious call at a home. There, they found 84-year-old Robert Peliti and 70-year-old Jackie Peliti severely injured. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, and the man later died in the hospital.
Chambers, who was living in Brown’s backyard in a shed she had loaned out to others, is believed to be responsible for all three murders. Investigators are still trying to determine the motive behind his alleged killing spree, which took place over a short period of time.
Neighbors expressed shock over the tragic events, describing Brown as a kind and giving person who had never shown any signs of trouble. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding these killings.
