RENO, Nev. — A 39-year-old Reno man, Brett Davenport, was arrested early Jan. 24 on suspicion of three felonies and two misdemeanors, including grand theft auto, after a crash on I-580 near the southbound East William Street offramp, according to Carson City Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) reports.

Authorities say the crash involved a silver Chrysler that hit the westside freeway divider around midnight. Witnesses reported a man attempting to remove debris from the road before walking southbound from the scene. CCSO confirmed the vehicle had been reported stolen.

Officers traced the vehicle to Davenport after finding a citation with his name inside and obtaining a photo from the victim. A backpack containing meth was also discovered in the car.

Davenport was located on foot near the Gold Dust West Casino and admitted to being in the casino and crashing the stolen vehicle. He also admitted to using meth earlier that day.

During the arrest, deputies seized 15.3 grams of meth, three meth pipes, two hypodermic syringes, a broken meth pipe, and a meth bong.

Davenport faces charges including grand theft auto, possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of a controlled substance, DUI of drugs, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
