Rekibuddin Ahmed Arrested in Guwahati Bike Theft Racket

Four Stolen Two-Wheelers Recovered in Follow-Up Raid

A bike theft racket has been busted by a team from the Fancy Bazar outpost in Guwahati with the arrest of Rekibuddin Ahmed, a 33-year-old resident of Hajo. He has been linked to the recent theft of a motorcycle (Reg. No. AS01BQ3014) reported from Majgaon Ghat near MG Road.

Following his arrest, Rekibuddin provided crucial leads, prompting a joint operation by the Panbazar police station and Fancy Bazar outpost. The coordinated effort led to the recovery of four stolen two-wheelers, including:

Two Glamour motorcycles (one bearing Reg. No. AS25D191, another unregistered)

A Jupiter scooty (Reg. No. AR02B5601)

A Grazia scooty (without registration)

The recovered vehicles were seized from various locations during the follow-up operation. Police have initiated legal proceedings, and further investigation is underway to trace other possible stolen vehicles and accomplices.

The arrest has been hailed as a breakthrough in curbing two-wheeler thefts in the city.
