ALLIANCE, Neb. — Rebecca Ashing, 30, of Alliance, Nebraska, has been sentenced to 25 to 35 years in prison after being found guilty of attempting to murder her husband. Ashing was convicted on four felony charges following a premeditated stabbing incident that occurred on July 13, 2023.
In Box Butte County District Court on Wednesday, Ashing was handed a 20-25 year sentence for attempted murder. In addition, she received a consecutive 5-10 year sentence for using a deadly weapon to commit a felony. The sentences will be served together, amounting to 25 to 35 years in prison.
Ashing was also sentenced to 2-4 years for first-degree domestic assault and 1 year for second-degree domestic assault, both of which will be served concurrently with the other charges.
According to court documents, the Alliance Police Department responded to a home on Potash Avenue on the day of the attack. Ashing had stabbed her husband in the neck and chest. Police later found the victim on the street, a few houses away from their residence. He was taken for medical treatment, while Ashing was arrested and treated for a cut on her finger.
Ashing was then lodged in the Box Butte County Jail.
