Raymond Cruz Arrested for Suspected Battery Incident

Breaking Bad actor allegedly sprayed water during dispute

by Amelia Crawford

Raymond Cruz, known for his role as Tuco Salamanca in Breaking Bad, was arrested on Monday, September 8, on suspicion of misdemeanor battery.

The incident occurred around 10:40 a.m. in Los Angeles, when Cruz was reportedly washing his car outside his home.

According to LAPD Officer David Cuellar, the actor allegedly got into a dispute and sprayed water toward the other party involved.

Cruz’s talent agent, Raphael Berko, offered additional context to PEOPLE. He explained that a white minivan with three women parked extremely close to Cruz’s car, leaving almost no space. Cruz reportedly asked them to move, warning that their vehicle might get wet.

“They refused, and when he began washing his car, they started filming him,” Berko said. He added that Cruz asked them to stop recording. While turning to speak with them, some water from the hose accidentally splashed onto their car.

“One of them called the police,” Berko said. “And somehow, someone who’s never been arrested — who portrayed a police detective for 15 years on The Closer and Major Crimes — ended up in handcuffs.”

Despite the situation, Cruz was treated respectfully during his five-hour stay in custody. “Raymond’s very grateful to all of the LAPD personnel,” Berko said, describing their conduct as “gracious and reassuring.”

Cruz was released on his own recognizance. According to booking records, he’s scheduled to appear in court on October 1. As of now, no formal charges have been filed.
