A chilling case of domestic violence unfolded in Dhadhagia village under the McCluskiegunj police station limits when Ravi Lohra was arrested for the brutal murder of his wife and two young children. The incident occurred late Monday night, with police apprehending the accused from a nearby forest eight hours later.
Speaking to reporters, DIG-cum-Ranchi SSP Chandan Kumar Sinha confirmed that Lohra had murdered his wife, Renu Devi, and their children—Ayup Kumar (7) and Aroohi Kumari (4)—by bludgeoning them with a stone as they slept. The tragic crime took place in the home of Lohra’s in-laws, where the family had been residing.
After committing the murders, Lohra reportedly tried to end his life by hitting his own head with the same stone and then jumping into a 25-foot-deep mine. He survived the fall with injuries and fled to a nearby forest, where he was later tracked and arrested during a police search operation.
Police were alerted by Renu Devi’s relatives, who discovered the crime scene. The murder weapon—a bloodstained stone—was seized. Authorities believe Lohra’s motive stemmed from resentment toward his wife, who had refused to live with him at his own residence.
Investigations are ongoing, and the incident has sent shockwaves across the region, raising concerns over domestic violence and mental health issues.
