HARTFORD, Conn. — Two people were taken into custody Monday after police located them inside a stolen vehicle in Hartford, according to the Greater Hartford Regional Auto Theft Task Force.
Task force officers reported spotting a stolen Dodge Ram in the area of Broad and Madison streets. The vehicle was tracked until it stopped at 42 School Street, where officers made contact with the occupants.
Police identified the suspects as Raul Santana, 35, of East Hartford, and Lyudmilla Potter, 26, of Norwich. Both were taken into custody at the scene.
Following their arrest, investigators discovered that Santana and Potter each had active arrest warrants connected to a serious assault that previously occurred in Hartford. Authorities also linked Santana to a stolen Chevrolet Equinox that was later recovered on Weston Street.
Santana has been charged with conspiracy to commit theft of a motor vehicle and first-degree larceny.
Potter faces multiple charges, including conspiracy to commit theft of a motor vehicle, first-degree larceny, operating a vehicle without the owner’s permission, and second-degree criminal trover.
Police said the investigation remains ongoing.
