Ratlam: In a high-value theft case, Ratlam police arrested two individuals, including a domestic worker, and recovered jewellery and cash worth over Rs 50 lakh.
The case came to light when Pankaj Motiyani (35), a resident of Katju Nagar, reported that gold, silver jewellery, and Rs 28,000 in cash were stolen from his house. The total estimated value of the stolen items was around Rs 50.28 lakh. A case was registered at Industrial Area police station, and an investigation was launched.
A special team led by Inspector Gayatri Soni inspected the crime scene, interviewed the complainant and family members, and checked records of visitors and domestic staff.
During questioning, Anju alias Anjana Gosar (30), a domestic worker from Subhash Nagar, gave inconsistent statements. On further interrogation, she confessed to her role in the theft and was formally arrested.
Anju revealed that she handed over the stolen items to Afzal (51), an auto driver residing in Khatik Mohalla near Haat Ki Chowki. Police tracked Afzal to his residence, and he also confessed to the crime and was arrested. All stolen jewellery and cash were successfully recovered.
