SHREVEPORT, La. — A joint law enforcement operation has led to the arrest of a man accused of taking part in a mass shooting that left two people dead and six others injured in Shreveport’s Allendale neighborhood.

On October 14, members of the U.S. Marshals Task Force, ATF Task Force, and the Shreveport Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit and K-9 Unit located and arrested Rasson Smith Jr., 21, without incident.

Authorities say the arrest stems from Smith Jr.’s alleged involvement in the September 20 shooting. Following an interview, he was booked into the Shreveport City Jail on an active warrant for attempted second-degree murder.

His father, Rasson Smith Sr., was arrested on September 26 in connection with the same case.

The investigation remains ongoing as detectives continue to identify additional suspects.

“The Shreveport Police Department extends its appreciation to all partnering agencies for their professionalism and teamwork in bringing Smith Jr. into custody,” SPD said in a statement. “SPD Homicide Detectives urge any additional individuals involved in this case to come forward and turn themselves in.”
