In a well-coordinated operation at Guwahati Railway Station, officers from the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) successfully intercepted a significant drug shipment. The operation, carried out early on the morning of January 31, 2025, targeted passengers aboard the Silchar-Secunderabad Express.

At 06:40 AM, a routine search of Coach No. NF GS-191127 led to the arrest of Rashid Hoque, a 22-year-old resident from Phalimari, Dinhata, Cooch Behar in West Bengal. Hoque was found traveling without a valid ticket, and upon inspection, the officers recovered 7 plastic-wrapped packets containing Yaba tablets, amounting to 1.5 kg of the illicit substance.

The recovered drugs have a market value of approximately Rs 6.45 crores. Hoque was immediately taken into custody by the NCB for further interrogation, and legal proceedings have been initiated against him.

The seizure marks a significant victory in the fight against drug trafficking in the region. Authorities continue their investigation to uncover further details regarding the source and distribution of the Yaba tablets.
