In a major breakthrough against narcotics trafficking, the North-West District Narcotics Cell of Delhi Police arrested two individuals — Ranjeet (25) and Rajesh Singh (21) — for possession of over 1 kg of fine-quality opium. The arrests took place near Gate No. 5, Azadpur Mandi, following a precise tip-off.
Both accused are residents of Nathupur in Gurugram, Haryana, and were intercepted while riding a motorcycle believed to have been used in drug deliveries. A police team led by ASI Chander Pal and supervised by Inspector Madan Mohan and ACP Ranjeet Dhaka conducted the operation based on intelligence about local drug activities.
During the search, officers recovered 1.081 kg of opium hidden in a bag. The suspects failed to provide any valid documentation for the possession of the narcotics.
On interrogation, Ranjeet and Rajesh confessed to their involvement in drug distribution, revealing that they had been trafficking narcotics across Delhi for the past few months in an attempt to make quick money. Fortunately, police confirmed that neither had any prior criminal records.
The duo has been booked under Sections 18, 25, and 29 of the NDPS Act at Mahendra Park Police Station. Authorities are continuing the investigation to identify their suppliers and any larger network connected to this trafficking ring.
