Ranchi police have arrested two individuals after recovering 1.74 grams of LSD worth around Rs 8 lakh, marking the first seizure of this semi-synthetic psychedelic drug in the city.
The accused are Abhishek Kumar (20) and Avinash Kumar (21). According to Ranchi SP (City) Paras Rana, the LSD was reportedly imported from the Netherlands via post using the dark web. The drugs were intended for sale in Ranchi to generate profit.
Police received a tip-off on Wednesday about a narcotics parcel scheduled to be delivered at Ojha Market in the Hesal area. A police team intercepted the parcel around 3:30 pm, discovering 100 LSD patches inside the envelope.
During interrogation, Abhishek Kumar admitted that he and his associate Avinash Kumar ordered the drugs using cryptocurrency via the dark web. Each LSD patch was estimated to sell for Rs 8,000 to Rs 10,000 in the local market. Both accused are currently in custody as the investigation continues.
