Ranchi Police have arrested Munna Kacchap and his two sons, Aman Kachhap and Aniket Kachhap, for allegedly beating an elderly man to death in the Burdwan Compound area under Lalpur police station limits, officials said. The incident occurred on January 31.
City DSP K V Raman stated that the trio was apprehended from their home on Sunday. The victim, Madheshwar Singh (55), had gone out for an evening walk when he got into a dispute with the accused. During the altercation, Singh was reportedly assaulted and fell unconscious. He was rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Local residents blocked roads in Lalpur on Sunday, demanding immediate arrest of the assailants.
Police have registered a case under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS 2023) against four individuals, including Munna Kacchap’s wife, who is currently absconding. Investigations are ongoing to determine her involvement and ensure further action.
