In a chilling case of family violence, Amethi police have arrested a couple and their two minor daughters for the brutal murder of a woman and her son in Rudouli village, near Musafirkhana. The incident, triggered by a dispute over pesticide use, led to the death of Rama and her 15-year-old son Akash.

The accused — Ramraj, his wife Ramlali, and their two daughters — were arrested late Saturday night near Jamo Mod canal crossing, following a two-day manhunt involving four police teams.

According to Circle Officer Atul Singh, the violence erupted after Ramraj was told that his sister-in-law Rama had sprinkled pesticide in his paddy field, allegedly harming his crops. Enraged, Ramraj allegedly attacked Rama and Akash with a sharp weapon, killing both instantly. Ramlali and their daughters allegedly joined the assault, with the girls reportedly kicking the victims during the fatal encounter.

The family fled the crime scene, discarding Ramraj’s mobile phone to avoid being tracked. They roamed through rural areas and avoided contact with relatives, finally spending Friday night in the Kadunala forest near Jamo.

On Saturday, police, acting on a tip-off, arrested the family. Ramraj and Ramlali have been sent to jail, while the daughters have been placed in a juvenile home in Ayodhya. The couple’s 10-year-old son, who was in school during the murder, has been handed over to his maternal grandparents.

Police say the accused confessed to the crime, admitting it was carried out in a fit of rage. Efforts are ongoing to recover Ramraj’s phone, believed to contain crucial evidence.
