Mumbai Airport Customs officers arrested a 26-year-old man, Ramiz Khan, from Chennai for allegedly smuggling drugs worth around Rs 9 crore. The accused had concealed the narcotics in a specially created cavity in his trolley bag.
Based on specific intelligence, Ramiz was intercepted after arriving from Bangkok on Saturday. Customs officers searched his trolley, which contained clothes, chocolates, and eight food packets. Each food packet held an airtight plastic packet of drugs.
“After emptying the trolley, it was unusually heavy. A baggage scan revealed four additional airtight packets cleverly hidden in a cavity inside the bag,” a Customs source said. The contraband was seized, and legal action is underway.
This case highlights Mumbai Airport Customs’ vigilance in intercepting sophisticated drug smuggling attempts using creative concealment methods.
