CHICAGO – Ralph Rodriguez, a 42-year-old man, was arrested last week in connection with a series of mail thefts on Chicago’s Northwest Side. His arrest took place on April 16, near 2000 West Ohio Street, following a joint investigation led by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, the Chicago Police Department, and the Cook County Sheriff’s Office.
Rodriguez is accused of being behind several incidents of mail theft, starting in 2024. Authorities have charged him with one count of felony theft, though they have not yet disclosed the number of victims or the amount of stolen mail.
The U.S. Postal Inspection Service is asking anyone who believes they may have been affected by mail theft to report it by calling 877-876-2455 or visiting the agency’s website at www.uspis.gov/report.
Ruth M. Mendonça, Inspector in Charge of the Chicago Division, praised the collaboration with law enforcement partners in the case. “The U.S. Postal Inspection Service is dedicated to defending the nation’s mail system from criminal activity,” Mendonça said.
