A shocking and gruesome double homicide occurred near Kohinur Pahad in Basavakaliana taluk, Bidar, allegedly stemming from suspicion over an illicit relationship. The victims—28-year-old Raju Kanthappa Kolasoor and his 24-year-old wife Sharada from Jafarawadi village—were lured and brutally killed by Dattatreya Wale, Tukaram Chitampalle, and Dattatreya’s sister.
Police report that, under false pretenses, the couple were summoned away from a trip to Mumbai via a phone call from the accused’s sister. They were taken to the outskirts of the village and attacked. Raju suffered fatal wounds from a machete assault, and Sharada was also killed. The perpetrators then fled the scene with the couple’s three-year-old child, who was later found alone, traumatized, at the crime site.
A case has been lodged against the two men and the sister. High-ranking officials including SP Pradeep Gunti, DySP J.S. Nyamagouda, and PSI Suvarna Malashetty visited the scene to oversee the investigation. The local community has been deeply shaken by the sight of the orphaned toddler, who remains with villagers under care.
Police are probing the motive, the manner of luring, and all individuals connected to the plot. This case unravels disturbing themes of vigilante justice and social unrest fueled by personal vendettas.
