Police have arrested two individuals involved in a series of gold chain snatching incidents in the Jhirpani area of Odisha, with one more suspect still on the run.
The accused have been identified as Rajesh Sahoo (33) from Biramitrapur and Akshaya alias Satish Kumar Verma (35) from Malgodown. According to police, Sahoo was the main snatcher who targeted women, while Verma acted as the receiver of the stolen jewellery.
The first incident occurred on June 29, when Manorama Mallick (75) reported that bike-borne assailants snatched her 17g gold chain while she was returning from Gundicha Temple.
Another case was registered on May 2, when Bibiana Kandir reported her chain being snatched near Jagda. A third complaint came from Asha Latha P on October 23, 2024, who lost a 10g gold chain while walking toward a bank in Shaktinagar.
