In a major cybercrime operation, the Nangal Rajawatan Police and the cyber cell of Dausa district, Rajasthan, arrested Vikas Saini (19) for his involvement in an online fraud scheme. Saini was part of a gang that deceived victims by sharing fake advertisements for ladies’ kurtis on social media platforms, tricking them into financial scams.

During the arrest, police recovered two Android mobile phones and two SIM cards associated with the fraud. Preliminary investigations revealed that the accused and his associates had transferred lakhs of rupees into five bank accounts and four mobile wallets used for the scam.

SP Sagar Rana confirmed that the rising number of cyber fraud cases led to the formation of a special team. The investigation was conducted under the guidance of IG Jaipur Range Ajaypal Lamba, supervised by Additional SP Dinesh Kumar Agarwal and CO Charul Gupta, with leadership from SHO Hussain Ali of the Nangal Rajawatan Police Station.

On Tuesday, the Cyber Crime Coordination Center (Government of India) alerted the police about a suspicious mobile number traced to Nangal Rajawatan. Acting on the tip-off, the team, including ASI Raghuraj Singh, Head Constable Laxmikant Sharma, Constable Ramavatar, and Constable Rinku Lal, conducted an investigation and confirmed the suspect’s involvement in the fraud.

The gang used Instagram and other social media platforms to post fake photos and videos of ladies’ kurtis, luring unsuspecting victims into making payments. Once the victims transferred money, the gang severed communication and disappeared, leaving the victims defrauded.

Authorities tracked the fraudulent transactions across multiple states, revealing significant financial losses for the victims. The police are now probing the five bank accounts and four mobile wallets linked to the scam to uncover further details.

This operation was carried out with the assistance of Dinesh Kumar from the Cyber Cell and has brought attention to the growing concerns about online shopping scams. The police are urging the public to be cautious when engaging in online transactions and report any suspicious activities immediately.
