Police in Rajasthan’s Balotra district have arrested a 23-year-old woman and a man for allegedly murdering her husband in Kharapar village.
The accused, identified as Anu Devi and Amraram, a government school teacher from Tilwara, were taken into custody in connection with the death of Mahendra Meghwal (21). His body was found at his residence in Malwa Goylan under Gida police station limits.
According to Station House Officer Dalpatsingh Chaudhary, Anu had been married to Mahendra for about three years, but their relationship was reportedly strained, with frequent disputes. She had been staying at her maternal home for an extended period and had returned to her husband’s house only a few days before the incident.
Police said Anu came into contact with Amraram during her stay at her maternal home. On Friday night, an argument reportedly broke out between the couple. When Mahendra did not come out of his room for a long time, family members grew suspicious and entered, only to find him lying dead on a cot with marks on his neck.
The family immediately alerted the police. Officers from Gida police station inspected the scene and sent the body for post-mortem before handing it over to the family.
Following a complaint lodged by the victim’s brother, police detained Anu Devi and Amraram for questioning. During interrogation, the duo allegedly confessed to strangling Mahendra, leading to their arrest.
A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway to establish all aspects of the crime.
