The Railway police arrested a 25-year-old construction laborer on Wednesday who had been evading capture for 17 days after being accused of rape and homicide of a 40-year-old woman at a tower wagon shed in Hassan railway station on February 13.
The suspect, Mousam Pahadi, originally from Nepal, had been working as a construction laborer in Hassan. After the crime, Pahadi fled but was apprehended by the Railway police. He is now facing serious charges related to the rape and homicide of the victim.
The police are continuing their investigation into the incident, which has shocked the local community.
