The West Region Cyber Police have arrested Rahul Tejasingh, a Jaipur-based banker, in connection with a Rs 72.5 lakh investment fraud. Tejasingh, a former employee of RBL Bank and currently working at Kotak Bank, is accused of misusing his banking position to steal funds from a customer’s account.

According to investigators, Tejasingh opened an account for a customer, Saddam Asgar Hussain, while employed at RBL Bank. He then linked his personal email ID and mobile number to the account without proper authorization. Using this access, Tejasingh fraudulently transferred Rs 30.3 lakh to his own account.

The Cyber Police traced Tejasingh to Pratap Nagar, Jaipur, where he was arrested and later brought to Mumbai. He was presented before the Bandra Court, which granted police custody. The fraud was initially reported in September 2024, involving a retired Air Force officer who had been duped into investing Rs 72.5 lakh. The victim joined a WhatsApp group called Marvel Capital on July 7, 2024, where the group’s administrator, Christian Lassonde, promised 100% returns.

Following instructions, the victim opened an account on a fraudulent website and invested over Rs 72 lakh between July and September 2024. When he was unable to withdraw his funds, he realized the scam and filed an FIR with the cyber cell on September 23, 2024.

During the three-month investigation, cyber cell officers discovered that Tejasingh had opened a fake account to facilitate the fraud. A large portion of the stolen funds had been transferred to this account. “Tejasingh exploited his position as a banker and is suspected to be part of a larger syndicate,” said a cyber cell officer.

Police have recovered 34 chequebooks from RBL Bank belonging to different customers, as well as chequebooks from IndusInd Bank and four ATM cards from RBL Bank. Authorities believe Tejasingh may be involved in a larger network of fraudulent activities.
