In a major breakthrough against organized crime, Basistha Police in Guwahati have arrested Rahul, a nationally wanted dacoit and alleged mastermind behind a series of ATM heists across several Indian states.
Following an extensive and coordinated operation, Rahul was apprehended in Haryana. His arrest comes after he allegedly led a five-member gang involved in a bold ATM burglary in Koinadhara, Guwahati, on April 14, where Rs5.5 lakh was stolen.
Investigations reveal that the gang — comprising members from Assam and other states — has been behind multiple ATM lootings. One of their most notable heists includes a Rs31 lakh ATM robbery in Goalpara, Assam.
Police say the gang was preparing for further operations in Meghalaya and other northeastern states. With Rahul now in custody, authorities have intensified efforts to track down the remaining gang members.
Officials hail this arrest as a significant victory in curbing inter-state organized crime.
