In a major breakthrough, Maina-Curtorim police arrested Rahim Mirza, a suspected member of the notorious Irani gang, in connection with a two-month-old chain-snatching case reported in their jurisdiction.
Acting on investigative leads, a police team traced Mirza to Pune, where he was apprehended and brought back to Goa. After being produced before a local court, Mirza was remanded to five days in police custody.
According to the police, Mirza is a wanted criminal in Maharashtra, linked to at least seven to eight theft-related cases. Authorities suspect that he may also be involved in multiple theft incidents in Goa, and expect further revelations during his interrogation.
In an unrelated incident, the same police unit also arrested another known offender, Shabuddin Shaikh, recovering three stolen two-wheelers in the process.
