NAVARRE, Fla. (WEAR) — A 27-year-old Navarre woman, Rachiel Moore, has been sentenced to life in prison without parole for her role in the 2023 murder of Colby Vinson, the father of her child.

A jury convicted Moore of first-degree premeditated murder and tampering with evidence after it was revealed that she conspired with her ex-stepfather, Jason Curtis, to kill Vinson amid a heated custody dispute.

The shooting took place in March 2023, shortly after Vinson, 24, had gained partial custody of their four-year-old daughter. Deputies found the child next to Vinson’s body when they arrived at the scene.

Investigators determined that Moore had reached out to Curtis, 56, to arrange the killing. Curtis was sentenced to life in prison last year for pulling the trigger.

Moore’s life sentence follows the conclusion of a disturbing case rooted in a bitter custody battle.
