Rachakonda Police Arrest 4 in Interstate Horse Betting Racket

Rs 8.34 crore transactions exposed; two absconders sought

The Rachakonda Special Operations Team (SOT) Malkajgiri and Jawahar Nagar police have arrested four men allegedly involved in running an interstate horse betting racket. The crackdown led to the seizure of Rs 2 lakh in cash and the freezing of a bank account containing Rs 2.47 lakh.

The arrested include Thakala Nagesh (45), Barra Venkaiah Chowdhary (45), Challa Ramesh Babu (48), and D Sunil (55). Meanwhile, two key accused, M Rajesh Kumar and Venkat Chowdhary, remain absconding.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police A Ramana Reddy, Nagesh, a native of Andhra Pradesh, orchestrated the betting operation with the help of Rajesh and Venkat. Nagesh created a WhatsApp group named ‘Shinewell Enterprises’, adding 105 participants involved in the betting activities.

Police investigations uncovered financial transactions totaling Rs 8.34 crore linked to the racket.

A case has been registered under Section 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 344 of the Telangana Gaming Act. The investigation is ongoing as police continue efforts to apprehend the absconding accused.
