TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) — A routine traffic stop in Topeka led to the arrest of a local woman after a Shawnee County Sheriff’s deputy discovered narcotics with the assistance of a K-9 unit.
On the evening of Friday, August 22, around 7:15 p.m., a deputy pulled over a white 2020 Dodge Charger near NW Grant Street and NW Jackson Street for having an expired license plate.
During the stop, a K-9 unit was called in to assist and detected illegal narcotics in the vehicle.
The driver, Rachael Ratzloff, 27, of Topeka, was arrested and booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections. She faces the following charges:
Possession of an opiate, opium, narcotic, or certain stimulant
Use or possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia
Operating a vehicle without registration or with an expired tag
Operating a motor vehicle without a valid license
The incident remains under investigation by the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office.
