In a significant anti-corruption operation, Odisha Vigilance arrested Rabindra Kumar Barik, a 55-year-old junior accountant in the office of the district manager of Odisha State Civil Supplies Corporation (OSCSC) Ltd, Sundargarh, for allegedly possessing disproportionate assets (DA).
Searches across five of Barik’s properties revealed extensive holdings, including a multi-storey building, market complex, gym, and kalyan mandap in Balasore town, a building in Baripada town, four plots around Balasore, 175g of gold, and bank deposits totaling Rs 43.81 lakh, whose sources Barik could not satisfactorily explain.
The operation involved five vigilance teams, led by three DSPs, six inspectors, and supporting staff. Following his arrest, Barik was produced before the Court of Special Judge (Vigilance), Balasore, after a case was registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
Barik has served as a junior accountant in OSCSC for nearly three decades across Bhadrak, Balasore, Jagatsingpur, and Mayurbhanj districts, and has been posted in Sundargarh since July 24, 2024.
