SCOTTSBORO, Ala. — A routine traffic stop on Sunday evening led to a man being arrested on multiple drug charges in Scottsboro.
Officers stopped a vehicle around 7:42 p.m. near N. Houston Street and Maple Avenue and spoke with the driver, 46-year-old Quinntis Lioneal Smith of Stevenson. Upon detecting the smell of marijuana, officers asked Smith to step out and conducted a search of the vehicle.
During the search, officers found a clear plastic bag containing a white, rock-like substance in the cup holder, along with additional bags of marijuana. Field tests confirmed the white substance was crack/cocaine.
Authorities also seized more crack/cocaine, marijuana, and $1,159 from Smith during a personal search.
Smith was arrested and charged with:
Possession of a Controlled Substance (Crack/Cocaine)
Possession of Marijuana (2nd Degree)
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
He was initially booked into the Scottsboro City Jail before being transferred to the Jackson County Jail for his felony charge.
