The Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of the state police arrested a suspected drug peddler in Shillong, seizing heroin from his vehicle on Sunday evening.
Acting on credible intelligence, the ANTF intercepted a car driven by Pynshngain Kharkongor, a resident of Lumdeingmet, Umpling, who was allegedly preparing to deliver narcotics to a customer.
Police discovered two soap cases containing 22.83 grams of heroin, which preliminary tests confirmed as the illicit substance. Kharkongor was detained and taken to Rynjah Police Station for further legal action.
The vehicle and seized contraband have been secured, and a case is being registered under the NDPS Act. Authorities are continuing the investigation to trace the source and distribution network behind the narcotics.
