Bangalore police have arrested Pushpalatha for allegedly killing a pet dog by violently banging it against the floor inside an apartment lift on November 1. The shocking act was captured on CCTV footage installed in the lift.
The dog, named Goofy, was under Pushpalatha’s care after she was hired by a 23-year-old owner from September 11, receiving a monthly salary of Rs 23,000. According to the complaint, Pushpalatha caused the dog’s death while the lift doors were closed.
Upon reviewing the CCTV footage, the owner discovered Pushpalatha lifting and forcefully throwing the dog onto the floor, resulting in its immediate death.
Authorities have registered a case under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and Section 325 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for mischief by killing or maiming an animal. Pushpalatha is currently in police custody as the investigation continues.
