In a significant drug bust, Bikaner police arrested a Punjab-based smuggler and detained his 16-year-old minor accomplice on Thursday night for smuggling over 50,000 tablets of controlled medicines, including Tramadol, a drug commonly abused by local youths. The contraband was being transported from Phalodi in Rajasthan to Punjab on a motorcycle.

The arrests were made during a late-night checkpoint operation near Loonkaransar police station. Upon noticing the police, the suspects attempted to flee but lost control of their bike, leading to their capture. Upon inspection, officers found the minor carrying two bags, each containing 25,000 tablets, along with 2.3 kg of poppy husk (doda post), a known narcotic.

The main accused, Gurpreet Singh Jatt, aged 40, from Buchokala village, Bathinda, Punjab, was arrested. The minor accomplice was detained, and police seized their motorcycle.

Loonkaransar CO, Narendra Kumar Poonia, stated that a team was dispatched to Phalodi to apprehend the drug supplier involved in the operation. This seizure marks the first known instance of such a large quantity of contraband being smuggled on a motorcycle.

The police are continuing their investigation and working to dismantle the smuggling network. The seizure highlights the growing concerns over drug trafficking and its impact on local communities.
