The Punjab Police has dealt a significant blow to an international drug trafficking ring, arresting six key operatives allegedly involved in flooding Chandigarh Tricity and Ludhiana with high-end “party drugs.”
The accused — Rishav, Mukesh Kumar, Lakhwinder Singh, Ravi Kumar, Baljinder Singh, and Talwinder Singh — were reportedly targeting urban youth through upscale clubs and social circuits.
During coordinated operations by the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), police seized a massive haul including:
1,215 MDMA tablets
263g cocaine
82g methamphetamine (ICE)
1.2kg of THC variants
16g “magic mushrooms”
Rs9 lakh in suspected drug money
According to DGP Gaurav Yadav, the syndicate employed sophisticated tactics to evade detection, sourcing contraband from overseas via air couriers and coordinating sales through encrypted social media platforms.
The breakthrough came after ANTF AIG Ashwini Gotyal received intelligence on Rishav, who was operating from an apartment in Kharar. A raid recovered the bulk of MDMA, cocaine, opium, and cash, leading to a domino effect arrest of the remaining five members at a redistribution center in Ludhiana.
AIG Gotyal highlighted the extreme danger of the seized substances, noting their high potency and serious psychological risks, as also warned in international health advisories.
The accused now face multiple charges under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, with investigations continuing to trace the international supply chain responsible for bringing the drugs into India.
