Punjab Police Arrest Najrul Ali and Midul Ali for Cyber Fraud of ₹76 Lakh

Scam Involved Fake “Digital Arrest” by Posing as Cyber Crime Officials

In a significant development, Punjab Police arrested two individuals, Najrul Ali and Midul Ali, residents of Kamrup, Assam, for their involvement in an elaborate cyber fraud that targeted a 76-year-old retired officer, duping him out of Rs76 lakh. The accused were arrested after an ongoing investigation into a scam that spanned multiple states.

The victim, a retired officer, was tricked by the accused who posed as Mumbai Cyber Crime officials. Using a fake “Digital Arrest” scheme, the scammers manipulated the elderly man into believing that he was under investigation by the cybercrime department. This manipulation led to him transferring Rs76 lakh to the fraudsters.
