Punjab police arrested a husband-wife duo, Balwinder Singh and Sarabjit Kaur, from Rohera in Haryana’s Jind district with 272 grams of heroin, officials said.
The couple was intercepted near Faridkot, where the contraband was recovered. A case under the NDPS Act has been registered at the Sadar Kotkapura police station, and both have been remanded in police custody.
Investigations revealed that the heroin was supplied to them by a trafficker from the border district of Ferozepur, intended for transport to Haryana by rail for further distribution. The police have also identified the suppliers and recipients involved in the case, with arrests expected soon.
SSP Dr. Pragya Jain stated that the police are committed to dismantling drug supply chains linking Punjab’s border regions with traffickers in Haryana.
