In a chilling case from Karnataka, a woman named Preeti, aged 35, was allegedly murdered by a man she had met on Instagram just four days before the incident. The accused, identified as Puneet from Mandya district, has been arrested by the police.
Preeti, a married woman from Hosakoppalu village in Hassan district, had recently connected with Puneet online. Their relationship quickly progressed, and they decided to meet in person. However, during their first meeting, Puneet reportedly made a sexual demand, which Preeti refused.
Enraged by her refusal, Puneet allegedly attacked and killed her. After the murder, he removed her gold ornaments and buried her body in a field in Karoti village, Mandya.
The investigation began after Preeti’s husband reported her missing. Using mobile network tracking and reviewing social media interactions, police traced her last known location and arrested Puneet. He confessed to the crime during interrogation.
Police have recovered Preeti’s body and are continuing further investigations into the case, which has sparked outrage over online safety and violence against women.
