A case of fraud has been filed at Khadak Police Station against Deepak Uttamchand Chordia, the owner of Deepak Motors in Ghorpade Peth, for allegedly selling counterfeit Tata clutch plates. The complaint was filed by Parshuram Sukhdev Karande (49), a resident of Thane.
Karande reported that he was driving his vehicle through Pune when his clutch plate malfunctioned, leaving his car stranded. Believing he was purchasing an original Tata part, he bought a clutch plate from Deepak Motors. However, upon inspection by his mechanic, the part was found to be counterfeit.
When Karande approached Deepak Motors for a replacement, the seller refused to provide one. As a result, Karande filed a complaint against Chordia, leading to charges of copyright infringement under Sections 51 and 63 of the Copyright Act.
The police are continuing to investigate the case, and authorities are taking action against the sale of counterfeit auto parts.
