Pune Rural Police successfully apprehended a four-member interstate vehicle theft gang and recovered two stolen trucks valued at Rs20 lakh. The arrests were made after a detailed investigation following the theft of a dumper truck from Yavat on March 20.
According to Inspector Avinash Shilimkar of the local crime branch, the team meticulously reviewed CCTV footage along a 200-km route and traced the gang to the Solapur district. Based on this information, the police laid a trap and took the suspects into custody from Mohol.
The arrested individuals were identified as Ganesh Raut (34), Dhanaji Lokare (35), Dattatreya Jadhav (34), and Laxman Choure (24), all residents of Mohol. The police not only recovered the stolen dumper truck but also another truck, bringing the total value of the recovered vehicles to Rs20 lakh.
Through this operation, the police were able to solve six separate vehicle theft cases, showcasing the effectiveness of their investigation and efforts to combat interstate vehicle theft rings.
