Property Manager Allan Constable Faces Cocaine Trafficking Charges

Convicted in U.S., Constable Arrested in St Andrew with Drugs

by Sophia Bennett

A property manager, Allan Patrick Constable, aged 63, is currently facing serious criminal charges in Jamaica related to the seizure of approximately US$500,000 worth of cocaine in St Andrew. Constable, who has a criminal history in the United States, was previously convicted for similar crimes and deported to Jamaica, where he is now embroiled in a fresh drug trafficking investigation.

According to prosecutors, Constable was arrested on January 8, following a joint operation by law enforcement agencies. The operation led to the interception of a Toyota bus at the entrance to the Charlton Court apartment complex, a property that Constable either owned or managed. A subsequent search revealed 122 parcels of cocaine weighing approximately 295 pounds, with an estimated street value of US$500,000. The drugs were found inside an apartment within the complex.

In addition to the cocaine bust, investigators discovered a barrel containing ganja at another property associated with Constable, further complicating the case. Constable’s attorneys, Odane Marston and Rodain Richardson, argued that their client had no knowledge of the drugs at either property, maintaining that he was simply the property manager and did not have ownership of the properties in question. However, prosecutors have charged Constable with possession of cocaine, dealing in cocaine, trafficking cocaine, conspiracy to traffic cocaine, and possession of criminal property.

Constable appeared before the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Tuesday, where the charges were outlined. The judge requested an antecedent report before considering an application for bail. As of now, Constable remains in police custody and is scheduled to return to court on April 24.

This case is not Constable’s first encounter with the law. Before his arrest in Jamaica, Constable was convicted in the United States for similar drug-related offenses. After serving time in the U.S., he was deported to Jamaica, where he continued his work as a property manager.

The Jamaican authorities are now focused on gathering more evidence to solidify their case, while Constable’s defense team has expressed confidence that their client will be cleared of the charges. However, given his criminal history and the amount of drugs seized, Constable faces serious legal challenges.

The St Andrew drug bust serves as part of a larger crackdown on drug trafficking in the region, and authorities have warned that they will continue to target organized crime networks involved in smuggling illicit substances into the country.

As the investigation continues, the community remains on edge, and Constable’s case is one to watch as it unfolds in the coming weeks.
