In a shocking incident from Gujarat’s Dahod district, authorities have arrested Govind Natt, a 55-year-old school principal, in connection with the death of a six-year-old girl. The young Class I student was reportedly choked to death after resisting Natt’s alleged attempts to sexually assault her. Following the crime, her body was discovered on the school’s premises, while her shoes and bag were left outside her classroom.
According to senior police officer Rajdeep Singh Jhala, the girl’s body was found on Thursday evening, sparking widespread panic in the area. The autopsy indicated that she suffocated. An investigation was launched, with police forming ten teams to gather evidence. The girl’s mother reported that she had seen her daughter off in the principal’s car that morning. However, when questioned, Natt claimed he had dropped her off at school and left for errands.
The police, unconvinced by his story, examined his phone’s location data and found discrepancies regarding his timeline. After further questioning, Natt confessed to the crime, revealing a horrifying account of events. He had picked up the girl around 10:20 am, and during the drive, when she began to scream in response to his advances, he choked her to silence her.
Afterward, he allegedly left her body in his vehicle for several hours before disposing of it behind the school building and placing her belongings near the classroom. Natt now faces severe charges under the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita and the stringent Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
In response to the tragedy, State Education Minister Kuber Dindor expressed his dismay, labeling the incident a shameful act for society. He confirmed that the authorities were closely monitoring the investigation and pledged to implement measures to prevent future occurrences of such heinous crimes.
