(WFRV) – Precious Cruse, a former Wisconsin business owner, was convicted on September 12 on 17 federal charges related to a healthcare fraud scheme targeting pregnant women and new mothers.
Richard Frohling, Acting U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Wisconsin, revealed that Cruse owned and operated ‘Caring Through Love,’ a Prenatal Care Coordination Company involved in fraudulent activities.
Cruse was found guilty of healthcare fraud, false statements regarding healthcare, violations of the Anti-Kickback Statute, aggravated identity theft, and money laundering.
Evidence presented during the trial showed that Cruse exploited vulnerable pregnant women and young mothers by enrolling them in her prenatal care program with promises of free baby supplies. Personal information collected from these women was then used to file Medicaid claims for services that were never provided. Some participants received baby items such as diapers and wipes, while others received nothing.
Cruse used the proceeds of her fraud to fund a lavish lifestyle, including designer clothing, luxury travel, and an $18,000 custom diamond necklace and bracelet for her toddler.
She faces a mandatory minimum sentence for aggravated identity theft and up to 20 years in prison for each healthcare fraud count. Her sentencing is scheduled for January 20, 2026.
