The Kota police have arrested Praveen Kumar Shetty, a 38-year-old man, for allegedly breaking into the home of a 92-year-old woman and stealing a 25-gram gold chain while her family was away at a temple. The theft occurred on the night of March 20 in Manoor Koikoor, a locality where the elderly woman was alone at the time.
According to police, the woman’s family, including businessman Sridhar from Dharwad, had gone to a nearby temple event, leaving the house vulnerable. It was during this time that Shetty broke in and stole the gold chain.
Upon investigation, the police discovered that Praveen Kumar Shetty, a resident of Manoor, had traveled to the area for a temple fair. His criminal record was uncovered, and an analysis of mobile network data and other evidence led authorities to identify him as the thief.
Further inquiries revealed that Shetty had lived in Hyderabad for about ten years, during which multiple criminal cases were registered against him. The stolen chain has since been recovered, and further investigation into his activities is underway.
