Pratapgarh police arrested Mohd Anees (46) and Mohd Aslam (36) of Raniganj on Sunday for allegedly possessing and trafficking 18.43 grams of methamphetamine (MD) worth several lakhs of rupees. A SUV used in the operation was also seized. Both were booked under Section 22B of the NDPS Act.
The Raniganj police acted on a specific tip-off and apprehended the accused near Bhagipur village road while they were attempting to deliver the drug consignment.
In a separate operation, the Raniganj police also arrested Deepak Kumar Patel (20) of Karighat in connection with a rape and POCSO Act case.
Additionally, Kunda police arrested gangster Tufan Patel (28) of Khazipur and seized two crude bombs and a bike from his possession near Seikhpur road. Tufan, who has three pending criminal cases, was booked under Sections 4/5 of the Explosive Act.
