Two youths working as domestic helpers, Prashant Savita (20) and Shankit Savita (19), were arrested for allegedly robbing and murdering Rajkumar Upadhyay (60) at his residence in Kalpna Kunj under Sikandra police jurisdiction.
Police revealed the accused knew that the victim had recently sold property in Firozabad, prompting them to target his home. During the robbery, the men stabbed the victim with kitchen knives, broke open cupboards, and stole cash along with gold and silver jewellery.
The Special Operations Group (SOG) and city zone police apprehended the suspects three days after the incident. Items recovered include two gold chains, anklets, a ring, cash, the victim’s watch, mobile phone, and the knives used in the crime.
Additional DCP (city) Aditya Kumar said the arrests followed a complaint filed by the victim’s son, Ashish Upadhyay, who reported his father’s suspicious death in Dohatra. The accused, with no prior criminal record, have been charged under multiple sections of the BNS, including section 103 (murder), and sent to jail.
Kumar added, “The accused confessed to dividing the stolen cash and were planning to flee to another city when arrested.”
