In a shocking case of real estate fraud, Lakadganj Police have arrested Prakhar Shishirkishor Tiwari and his mother Neeta Tiwari for allegedly duping a Koradi-based family of Rs60 lakh through fake land investment schemes.
The victim, Yashwant Wadibhasme, 24, an online delivery executive, was approached in 2022 with a promise of doubling his money by investing in land parcels located in Tiwari Nagar and Bhilgaon.
Trusting the offer, Wadibhasme and his family transferred Rs25.50 lakh online to Tiwari’s Punjab National Bank account and paid an additional Rs34.50 lakh in cash. In return, the family received post-dated cheques and verbal assurances.
However, Tiwari only repaid Rs25 lakh, and the remaining Rs35 lakh went unpaid. The cheques provided by Tiwari bounced, triggering suspicion and a police complaint.
Following an investigation, Lakadganj Police registered a case under the newly implemented Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), citing Sections 318(2), 318(4), and 3(5), which pertain to criminal breach of trust, cheating, and organized financial crime.
Authorities are now probing whether similar fraudulent land investment deals were conducted by the accused in other parts of Nagpur or Maharashtra.
