Prakash Makwana, Kumar Talbada Arrested for Underpass Cable Theft

Two men caught stealing cables from Ahmedabad underpasses

by Ananya Mehta

The Navrangpura police have arrested two men, Prakash Makwana and Kumar Talbada, suspected of stealing cables from boom barriers and CCTV cameras at various underpasses across Ahmedabad city.

The theft was first noticed in March when the project manager overseeing the installation of automatic boom barriers and CCTV cameras by an AMC-contracted agency found the cables missing at the Income Tax Underpass. Despite the cables being protected inside PVC pipes, the thieves managed to steal three-core, two-core, and Cat Six cables.

Following an investigation, the Navrangpura Police registered an FIR and apprehended the suspects. Both men are believed to be involved in similar thefts at other underpasses across the city.

Authorities continue to probe the matter to prevent further incidents.
