In a successful operation by the Arunachal Pradesh police, two individuals were arrested on Sunday with 9.46 grams of suspected heroin. The drug was hidden in seven vials during a routine check at the Banderdewa check gate.
The operation was part of the ongoing “Operation Dawn 2.0” and was conducted under the supervision of Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Naharlagun, Rishi Longdo. A police team, including Sub-Inspectors Dekey Tayum and Koj Tada, along with Head Constable Tade Bomdom, detained the suspects. A body search, carried out in the presence of independent witnesses, led to the recovery of the heroin-filled vials.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Prakash Charabarty (27) from Dongibil village, Lakhimpur district, and Takam Golo (24) from Itanagar. Both suspects were arrested under Section 21(b) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the Banderdewa police station.
Naharlagun’s Superintendent of Police, Mihin Gambo, praised the police team and emphasized their continued commitment to combatting drug-related crimes and ensuring community safety.
