Raigad Police have arrested Prajwal Hambir, the key accused in the murder of Aditya Ganesh Bhagat (22), whose body was found dumped along Tamhini Ghat under Mangaon police jurisdiction on January 11.
The investigation revealed that Bhagat, a resident of Pune, had been assaulted with lethal weapons by Hambir and two associates — Aniket Waghmare (26) and Tushar Patole (24) — during a quarrel over property investment contributions. The trio had traveled to Mahabaleshwar for a weekend picnic in a multi-utility vehicle belonging to the victim’s relative, during which the verbal spat escalated, reportedly after a liquor session.
Using technical expertise and inter-police coordination, Raigad and Pune police swiftly apprehended Waghmare and Patole within eight hours. Hambir, who was at large, was later traced en route from Solapur to Pune and taken into custody.
Senior Inspector Nivrutti Borhade confirmed the recovery of the MUV and other evidence, while Raigad SP Anchal Dalal stated that the investigation is ongoing to determine the exact sequence of events leading to the brutal murder.
Authorities emphasized that rapid coordination across jurisdictions and forensic tracking played a crucial role in apprehending the suspects and preventing further flight.
