GASTONIA, N.C. — Two postal workers were arrested last week following a six-month investigation into stolen cell phones at a USPS warehouse.

DeSean Hardiman, 31, and Elijah Jefferies, 20, face multiple charges in connection with the thefts. Hardiman is charged with ten felonies, while Jefferies faces four felonies, including obtaining property by false pretenses, larceny by an employee, and conspiracy.

Police say the thefts occurred over several months at the USPS warehouse on Scaleybark Road in Gastonia. The suspects allegedly targeted packages containing cell phones, opened them during delivery, and stole the devices.

The duo was apprehended at work on Wednesday, November 19. Officers reported that the men sold the stolen phones through EcoATM kiosks throughout the city.

Deputies recovered more than 20 phones with a total value exceeding $18,000.
