A man who bears a striking resemblance to singer Post Malone has been arrested in Orange County for a series of package thefts in an Irvine apartment community. Authorities identified the suspect as 45-year-old Jacob Daniel Rodriguez from Santa Ana.
The Irvine Police Department, known for their witty social media updates, congratulated their detectives for the arrest of Rodriguez, whom they nicknamed “Postal Malone.” Referencing some of Post Malone’s hit songs, the police quipped, “Things are ‘Better Now’ that ‘Postal Malone’ is off the streets.”
Rodriguez was booked into the Orange County Jail after being linked to multiple package thefts. Last month, police shared images on social media of a man caught stealing more than five packages from an apartment complex on Spectrum Center Drive. The suspect was noted for distinctive tattoos on the right side of his face and right hand, wearing a white hoodie and black cap during the thefts.
The nickname “Postal Malone” plays on both the actual singer Austin Post’s unique tattoo style and the suspect’s affinity for stealing postal packages. Authorities hope this arrest will bring relief to residents targeted by the thefts.
